New Zealand Owned
At the core of CV Compton are the people. As its primary asset, Comptons has invested heavily in staff training and welfare to ensure the company maintains a customer focussed ethic. Backing this up has been the introduction of technology to drive cost savings and service enhancements for customers, all with the aim of becoming recognised as Auckland’s most professional cartage contractors.
C.V.Compton is a family owned business that has its beginnings in 1981 when Brian Compton and his younger son Brent acquired the assets of McSweeney Haulage. McSweeney’s specialised in the carriage of plasterboard manufactured by Winstone Wallboards Limited and the Compton boys soon learned and mastered the challenges that handling this premium product entailed. Tragically Brian passed away in 1985 and this prompted eldest son Tom to return from his extended overseas experience in Europe to team up with younger brother Brent.
The boy’s mother, Colleen, also stepped up to the plate and assumed the mantel of Managing Director, a position she retains to this day and the family set about recovering from the loss of Brian and building a transport business that would endure. Before long further family reinforcements were needed as the business grew and daughter Jodi was rostered onto the full time compliment.
With growth came diversity and the business soon assumed a wider sphere of operations. Ventures into heavy haulage and expansion of their flat deck capability saw the first contracts with Orbit Logistics and the Placemakers organisation established.
Today the business services the needs of a wide array of customers. To meet these needs a comprehensive range of truck capabilities exist within a fleet of vehicles whose average age is progressively being reduced as the Company moves to implement its policy of re-investing in its vehicle assets.
